Energy transition in hotel operations – practically implemented
Photovoltaics: Solar Power from Our Own Roof
As a responsible hotel business, we operate photovoltaic systems on almost all of our roof surfaces to generate our own electricity. The solar power produced is used directly in the hotel and supplements our energy supply.
100% Heat Pumps by the End of 2027
Today, the hotel, the restaurant and nearly all conference rooms – with the exception of the CongressCentrum – are already heated and cooled using heat pumps. By the end of 2027, the last remaining conference area will also be converted to this heating and cooling system.
Largely self-sufficient energy supply
To optimize the use of our self-generated electricity, we also use battery storage systems. They allow energy produced to be temporarily stored and support our goal of a largely self-sufficient energy supply.
Surplus solar power is fed into the public grid. If our own electricity generation is temporarily insufficient, we supplement it with certified green electricity.
Award-Winning – "Gold" at the DEHOGA Umweltcheck
We are delighted to have received the Gold award at the DEHOGA Umweltcheck. The award is based on an assessment of energy and water consumption, waste management, food quality and origin, as well as regional purchasing, and was presented to us again in January 2026.
Participating businesses are evaluated according to defined criteria and can achieve the award levels Bronze, Silver and Gold.
The Gold award confirms our successful participation in this assessment process and recognizes our efforts in the areas reviewed. At the same time, it motivates us to continuously develop our processes and to communicate transparently about our measures.
Member of the German Federal Association for Sustainable Business (BNW)
As a member of the BNW, we send out a clear signal for sustainable entrepreneurship. The association unites companies that combine ecological, social and economic responsibility – just like us at Designhotel Wienecke XI.
The regular exchange of ideas, exciting impulses and joint projects inspire us to consistently develop our environmental measures further. Together with the network, we are helping to make sustainable business visible and effective in politics, society and the economy.
Together for Climate Protection – with the Klimaschutzagentur Region Hannover
As an active member of the “Klimabündnis Region Hannover”, Designhotel Wienecke XI. is committed to responsibility, transparency and cooperation. Our goal: to reduce our hotel’s emissions step by step, based on annual reporting.
A strong partner at our side is the Hanover Region Climate Protection Agency, which provides us with expertise, energy advice and an annual carbon footprint assessment continuously. This close cooperation enables us not only to implement measures, but also to regularly review and optimize them.
